The Hebrew program in grades kindergarten through second grade is included in the Judaic Studies curriculum on Sunday. Here, they learn:
- Simple blessings for bread, shema, wine, Shabbat candles, special holidays, and fruit.
- Simple vocabulary words and Hebrew names for the Jewish symbols at home and in the synagogue.
- Hebrew songs and prayers
More intensive Hebrew education begins in third grade through sixth grade and meets on Wednesday from 4:30-6:00pm. Our teachers present a meaningful Hebrew program through the use of Hebrew games, puzzles, CDs and hands-on activities. Our program emphasizes prayer fluency and understanding, service participation and appreciation for the Hebrew language as being part of our Jewish heritage. Each year the prayers are reviewed and new ones added. In this way, your child will become competent with the Reform Shabbat morning and evening services. These prayers are reviewed each week in the class as a regular part of each lesson.
